Eighth-grade students continue their study of U.S. history from the development of the Constitution through Reconstruction. Geographic, civics/government, and economics content is integrated within the historical context under study. Students should understand the relevancy and connections of this history to their lives. Students will use significant content knowledge, research skills, and inquiry practices to analyze issues and communicate conclusions.

Students will use significant content knowledge, research skills, and inquiry practices to analyze issues and communicate conclusions.
Classroom Expectations
1. At-Home Instruction: It is expected that students access Google Classroom from home.
2. Behavior: It is expected that all students are provided a safe learning environment. Students who infringe upon other students’ rights will be disciplined.
3. Late/Missing/Incomplete Work: Late work will receive a reduced grade. If an assignment is not turned in it will appear as a “Missing Assignment” (0 points) on Infinite Campus until resolved.
4. Assessments: Students with a grade 69% or lower on a assessment/test have the option to research and resubmit answers to missed questions to receive a satisfactory grade of 70%.
5. Absence: Students are responsible for obtaining work when absent. Daily work is posted online through Google classroom. Students may also receive work by an email attachment or hard copy may be picked-up at the office. Students may receive an alternative assignment tailored to individual need. If absent on a test day, an alternative test may be given.

Classwork involving literacy and critical thinking skills will be measured as follows:
1. Assessments (60%): Module Tests and Module Section Quizzes
2. Daily Work (40%): Simulations, writing reflections, reading summaries, chapter reviews.
