Course Goals
Street Law is a one trimester course in practical law providing an understanding of law and the legal system in everyday life through case studies and current issues, encouraging effective and informed civic participation in our democracy. Topics covered include: Introduction to Law and the Legal System, Criminal Law and Juvenile Justice, and Individual Rights and Liberties.

Classroom Expectations
1. At-Home Instruction: It is expected that students access Google Classroom from home.
2. Behavior: It is expected that all students are provided a safe learning environment. Students who infringe upon other students’ rights will be disciplined.
3. Late/Missing/Incomplete Work: Late work will receive a reduced grade. If an assignment is not turned in it will appear as a “Missing Assignment” (0 points) on Infinite Campus until resolved.
4. Assessments: Students with a grade 69% or lower on a assessment/test have the option to research and resubmit answers to missed questions to receive a satisfactory grade of 70%.
5. Absence: Students are responsible for obtaining work when absent. Daily work is posted online through Google classroom. Students may also receive work by an email attachment or hard copy may be picked-up at the office. Students may receive an alternative assignment tailored to individual need. If absent on a test day, an alternative test may be given.

Classwork involving literacy and critical thinking skills will be measured as follows:
1. Assessments (60%): Chapter, Unit Tests and Chapter Section Quizzes
2. Daily Work (40%): Simulations, writing reflections, reading summaries, chapter reviews.
